Plastic doghouses are lightweight and very affordable. For that reason they are getting more and more popular. A lot of dog owners prefer plastic dog houses of late and it is a good idea to try it if you want. That doesn’t mean you should just go ahead and pick any plastic dog house out there in the market, not all of them are good. You still need to do some market research and also pick one that matches your dog’s size. I have 5 features you should also look for before making any choice.

•	Insulation
A good plastic dog house has to imperatively be insulated. The reason is simple. The surrounding environment’s temperature keeps changing. Your dog is supposed to use this doghouse as a refuge to protect himself against these temperature changes. With an insulated plastic doghouse, you can answer that need.
There are different types of plastic doghouse insulation. You have the structural foam insulation, the resin insulation and the double wall insulation. They are all good. You can get any of them.

•	Elevation
Still, even if the plastic doghouse is insulated, you will still need to check that the doghouse is elevated above the ground. The truth is that the temperature from the ground can still easily pass through the base of the dog house and significantly affect the inner temperature of the doghouse. Your dog may not feel comfortable dealing with that.

The good news is, there are many plastic dog houses that have their base elevated.

•	Door
The inner temperature is a very important subject when it comes to dog houses. To make sure you keep the inner temperature at a certain constant you also have to provide a door to the doghouse. That way the surrounding temperature will not easily move inside the doghouse.

•	Cleaning
At a point in time, you will need to clean the dog house. That may require disassembling the whole doghouse. That shouldn’t be the case. A good plastic dog house should be easy to clean without having to disassemble it. Some dog houses require that you only remove the roof or the upper part when you want to clean it. These are the ones you should go for.

•	The rating
The final decision should be made after you compare and contrast the different opinions from people who have already tried the dog house. You can ask friends who bought that dog house. If you don’t have any friend that tried the dog house you are interested in, you may do a simple search on online shopping sites. There are a lot of customer reviews about dog houses out there. Make sure you read them first, then make a decision.

If you want more information about plastic doghouses you can read them on my website: plastic doghouse

To choose some kind of food for your Yorkie pet is an important decision. You should take into account lots of essential things when selecting it. Firstly, your doggie’s basic nutrition system should desirable be dry kibble. The Yorkies breed is prone to tooth decay, so it is highly inadvisable to feed them only with wet or canned food constantly.

Nevertheless, if you do show preference to giving your pet wet food, keep in mind brushing his teeth after meal. The reason is that the majority of canned food is made with a vast amount of water (for processing procedures). So, canned food does not usually contain lots of nutrients a dry food does.

Take our advice: study the labels properly. Canned food is actually the same as dry food. The difference is in water amount. So, it is necessary to study the labels on every product you give your Yorkie whether it is canned food, dry food or treats and supplements.

You can find a lot of quality products in shops. Each of them would be a good option, though you must not rely just on brand articles. Some producers make a good dog food for puppies, but their adult alternatives are not always well done. So, you shouldn't choose only one brand for each age of your dog. Read labels and pick out the most suitable kind to feed your pet.

A puppy sort of food is appropriate for Yorkies until they are 8 or 10 months old. Only then you should start feeding them with the adult kibble. The kind of brand is only your selection. Every Yorkie is unique. They all have unique changes on every stage of their growth and development. Each company supplies their dog food with necessary recommendations for feeding, so it won't be difficult to raise your Yorkie as a healthy and happy one.

Are you thinking of getting a dog house pen for outside use? That is a great idea. Dogs by nature are very curious animals and they may venture into hazardous situations and may end up getting hurt especially when you are not around. For that reason you must find a way to restrict your dog’s movement when you are away for work.

Chaining the dog may be an option but it is not the best as the dog may end up getting frustrated. There are better ways of dealing with such dilemma and that is by using a dog pen. Dog kennel or dog pen or dog run are spacious enclosures where you can put your dog when you are way.

With the many types of dog pens out there, you may not be sure of which one is best to choose for your pet. It is advisable to do a research online before you make any choice. In you research there are certain features you need to take note of. They are:

The Size
There are different sizes of dog kennels. Some may be too small for your pet. Always make sure you measure the size of your dog a search for a dog pen that will fit him properly. Don’t neglect the space too. You want a dog run that has enough room to allow to dog to free move around inside it.

Material
The material used for dog pen may be nylon, iron or wire. Each comes with its own advantages and disadvantages. The wire dog pen is very strong and sturdy but it may get rusted with time. Make sure you choose galvanized wire dog kennel if that is the type you want to go for. Welded wire are the preferred ones because your pet is guaranteed not to get injured when inside.

Plastic dog kennel are already rust proof but they are relatively lightweight and easier to break, in relation to wire dog kennels. That said plastic dog pens will fit perfectly for small size dogs that will not be able to drag it around or jump over it.

Location
Once you choose a dog kennel, you will also have to think of the place where you will have to put it. You definitely don’t want your dog to struggle with the sun so make sure the dog pen is always in a shaded area. There are covered dog kennels but even if you go for one of them, you should still put them in a shaded area.

When away
One thing for sure is that you will not always be around to attend your dog’s basic needs. That is why you should provide your dog with certain basic tool that will enable him to enjoy his time inside the dog kennel. Toys are very important and will keep the dog happy during your time away. He may also need to drink something, provide a bowl with enough water. A dog potty may also help so that the dog will not have to hold on until you come before he can ease himself.

This is all I have for you. I hope this information was helpful; you can get more information about dog pen for outside use on my website: insulated dog house

It is not a rarity when Yorkshire terriers are fastidious eaters. In such case you will have to organize its nutrition properly. Read the following recommendations which can be of great assistance for you:

If you got your Yorkie as a little puppy, then you must be already well acquainted with its eating habits. Though, if your pet came to your home as a grown-up dog, its eating history may be a closed book for you at first. Consult the veterinarian about what ration will be the most appropriate for your doggie. The vet will study your dog's history decide which kind of food will be the best for the Yorkie.

Keep in mind: feeding the dog with only canned food is highly inadvisable. This food is of a soft consistency and feeding the dog only with such food will weaken the Yorkie`s teeth. It may result in tooth loss. If a dog loses too many teeth there increases the chance for it to become malnourished. So, be sure to mix soft food with dry one: your terrier will be cable to chew and maintain proper dental health.

In reference to human foods from your table: be cautious giving it to your pet. It can cause vomiting or diarrhea, make it sick and call allergic reactions. It's not prohibited at all to give your pets a treat from time to time, though resist temptation to share your meal with your pet all the time.

Next recommendation concerns the strict timetable. Structure and consistency in feeding is really required. You should determine such points: how many times per day you are going to feed your dog (once or twice) and what time you will do it. Then hold to this schedule. Assign some time for it to take food and then take the dish away. Fifteen minutes will be enough for this purpose. If you own more than one dog, make sure not to feed them together. They must do it separately.

Lots of people are fond of pets, especially dogs. Those who are looking for Yorkie puppies, are invited to this Yorkie puppies for sale site - this is a very place on the Internet where one can buy a Yorkshire Terrier puppy.

As a dog owner it is natural that you would want to offer your pet a doghouse to sleep in. There are different kinds of dog houses out there and you may want one that has certain specific features depending on the area where you live. May be you live in a temperate region and would want a doghouse that is able to maintain its own internal climate warm. So you want an insulated dog house or better yet, a heated dog house. What you would want to do is use the different techniques available out there to make sure that the dog house is warm during the winter. Let see the options that you have.

1.	Get an insulated dog house
Insulated dog houses have the power to prevent external temperatures to easily get inside the dog house. This is a very nice and cheap way to keep your dog house warm. If you choose to buy an insulated dog house, the preferred choice should be a doghouse made of red cedar wood. Red cedar wood is the best type of wood that can provide insulation for the dog house all year long. It also discourages the dog from chewing the house. In some cases a dog house made of red cedar wood and a door is all you may need but in case of harsh winter you may add some other ideas.

2.	Heating using electricity
You may decide to add more heating to the doghouse by using electric devices that emit heat. There are different options for that one.

One of them is to use an electric dog bed. There are many of them out there. You can just do a research online. They come with a thermostat that helps regulate the heat emitted by the electric bed. Mind you, this is not for dogs who like chewing. Even though the bed is made of materials not easy to tears up some dogs are still able to destroy it and that is at the risk of getting electrocuted.

You can also use another electric device that cannot be chewed by dogs, that is the ceramic heater. They are small electric devices that you can keep inside the dog house and it will emit heat as to keep the dog house warm. It is also equipped with a thermostat, so you can regulate the temperature automatically.

3.	The use of heating pads.
Instead of using electricity you can also used heating pads. Using these pads, you can be sure that your dog will never get electrocuted. The heating pads are made with some chemicals that are able to retain heat for a very long time. All you do is heat it in a microwave for some few minutes and they are ready to go. It is still not advisable to give it to a dog that enjoys chewing because the heat chemicals inside are dangerous. Wrap it in a bed sheet before putting inside the dog house.

There you go, you got the 3 main options to keep your dog house heated. If you want more recommendations on heated dog houses, you can read them on my website: insulated dog house.

Yorkies are wonderful creatures and can make great pets for you. However, training of your doggie can be sometimes difficult unless it is fulfilled properly. Below are presented some basic principles you can keep to when training your Yorkshire terrier.

Every time when the dog does a command correctly you should give your pet some treat. It is unambiguously one of the most efficacious actions in training. For example, teaching your Yorkie the command “sit”: put the treat in your fist and let the doggie smell it. After that command "sit", but give him or her treat only after the command was fulfilled successfully. This method is proved. The performing acts are a fun time for your dog with it.

Though Yorkies are very quick-witted animals, but sometimes you will have to spend some extra time to potty-train them. Start teaching your Yorkie to go outside when he is still a puppy. However, if you pet is older, it is all right as well. When you see your dog easing nature on the floor, shout loudly “no!” or “stop!”. Then take them to a familiar place out of the house. After yours does their business, give them a treat and praise well. If your pet cannot understand and learn this command, try to apply crate training. When you leave the house put the Yorkie in a crate. Let it out solely then when you can supervise them.

The dog can be distracted easily when training. So remember to take away everything that deflects their attention away from the lesson. These are television, children, phone calls, and so on and so forth. You will need a quite place to train.

Some Yorkies bark loudly when someone comes to you. If your Yorkie don’t stop barking, try to shout "no!" at them. Or you can ignore them completely. Stay firm and your pet will realize that the next time there will be punishment if he acts like that.

There are a vast amount of tips available on how to potty train a puppy. But what really works? Well, in my opinion, there are only three proven tips that really work on how to potty train a puppy.

Tip #1: Crates

Buy your puppy a crate with a divider. This crate will not be for punishment. Punishment gets you nowhere when it comes to how to potty train a puppy. This crate will be your puppy’s own little place where he/she can relax and sleep. Remember to get a large enough crate so that it is still usable as your puppy grows. Now, your puppy will want to keep his/her crate clean so he/she will not have an accident where they will be sleeping. The divider for the crate is important to make the area big enough just for your puppy. If you don’t use a divider, your puppy will create a clean place where he/she will sleep and the rest of the crate will likely be used as a bathroom. Not good. When your puppy is growing, you can adjust the divider to make sure your puppy has accurate space.

Tip #2: Establish a Routine

It’s important when potty training a puppy to have a routine. This will lessen the chances of accidents occurring. Puppies that are 12 weeks old or less do not have bladder control just yet. Puppies over 12 weeks should go out the amount of hours by his age in months. So, if your puppy is four months old, he/she will need to go outside about every 4 hours or so. Try taking your puppy outside to use the bathroom at the same time every day. It’s important to take your puppy outside before and after a meal, when he/she wakes up and before he/she goes to sleep at night. Also, keep in mind to stop giving your puppy water about two hours before bed.

Tip #3: Patience

It’s important to realize that potty training your puppy will take a lot of patience. This is an essential part of potty training. Accidents will happen. Don’t yell, scold or punish your puppy. Your puppy’s bladder is developing and it takes time. Also, it takes time for your puppy to understand what he/she is supposed to do. Reward your puppy when he/she uses the bathroom outside with treats or some play time in the yard or in the house. Another way to show patience with your puppy will potty training is when he/she has an accident, startle him/her slightly to stop the accident, pick him/her up gently and take him/her outside to the bathroom spot. Praise your puppy after he/she finishes his/her business.

Following these three proven tips on how to potty train a puppy will help your puppy make an easier transition into using the bathroom outside.

One of the Yorkies` distinctive characteristics is their long beautiful hair. Keeping their coat looking that way is an essential point when you groom your pet.

So, a soft comb is one of the most important tools a Yorkie owner needs. It is a must to comb all the way through your pet’s coat once a day for their hair to remain clump-free and untangled. Assure that the comb is really soft since stiff and hard ones can be harmful for your dog’s skin. You can understand whether it is proper or not by running it over your skin at first.

The word "bath" for many Yorkies is fearful. But bathing is a necessary part for Yorkies` everyday clean and healthy life. The doggie needs washing once every week or two. At special stores you can purchase some shampoo and conditioner for small dogs. Apply some warm water with the shampoo and conditioner and clean the Yorkie`s body. Then dry them thoroughly and gently with a towel. Be careful not to let any water or shampoo in your Yorkie`s eyes.

There often arises mucus buildup around doggie’s eyes. It is necessary to check them for this daily. Apply a piece of wet cloth to remove it if you notice some. Do it gently of course. One more problem that many owners leave untreated is tartar. There are manifold teeth cleaning items you can find at your local pet store. In some cases you can ask your veterinarian which one they would suggest for your particular situation.

Yorkies need to have their nails trimmed regularly as well. But keep in mind: it is important not to cut them too short. This can lead to bleeding. Despite all this you will still need to take your pet to professional grooming. They will trim the hair correctly, get rid of ear mites, and clean your Yorkie properly.
