No existing animal

If you do not have other pets, integrating a new kitten in your home is a fairly simple matter. You automatically make a family, and, indeed, spend much time with the kitty collage, and in general "ruin" it.

However, keep in mind that your home is a strange place for a new kitten, and depending on his training, he needs time to adapt and learn. He can come from a foster care situation where care has been taken to his human side. On the other hand, many kittens spend their days in a refuge - a room or a cage or sisters', "where there are several other cats, young and old. In the latter case, the new kitten needs lots of love and patience, as well as the opportunity to be alone when he needs it. You need to provide assistance to these requirements may help your cat is afraid of his new environment.

A good start in your new kitten is to practice "gentling" technical, detailed in "How Soft a kitten." I can not take credit for this content. It was given to me by another about this guide, which obtained the information from your veterinarian. This technique allows not only the bonding process, but also get the kitten used to being handled, which will be invaluable later with dental care, brushing and veterinary examinations.

Set aside a private area with a bed, food and cat litter. It should not be the size of the room, but can be screened out of the hall-angle normal activities. We call this a "Safe Room".

Give your new kitten space when you need lots of loving attention when she asks, and she will soon feel at home.

It integrates with other pets

It is an entirely different matter, but if you have dogs and or cats in the family. First, it is important to quarantine new arrivals small (s) before they had their vet exam, to prevent the spread of diseases or parasites they may carry. Wild cats often have ear mites, fleas and other parasites. Unfortunately, they can also be carriers or infected with FIV or Feel. Kittens adopted from shelters often have Uri’s (upper respiratory infection), including Bordetella (kennel cough). Even kittens breeders can sometimes be the former, often URI have an incubation period of up to three or four weeks, and thus a breeder may be unaware of this condition in a new kitten.

Then put the kitten in a separate room security (see above) a few days. Make sure she has her own bed, food and water bowl and litter tray. After she was cleared by your vet, you can open the door to his "safe" a crack, to give the other cats to sniff and look. Rub her with a towel to forward her scent on it and then put the towel in the sleeping area of your existing cats to get used to his smell. Tactics from giving him a towel or blanket with the scent of your cats. In a few days, you can put in a support and let the other cats to come and sniff. Expect a little rumble and behavior hissy-slobbering at first, it is instinctive.

Since the "holdouts" to try to rush things, but to provide situations in which older cats and new puppy can be divided into a pleasurable activity. My cats like to play "chase the ball" and little Billy. "Ball" is the crumpled sheet, but offers a more interactive than the cats compete in the first fall "catch". And 'sometimes surprising how often you leave Billy "win."

Presto - one or two weeks, a group of them should stop and get on well. The most important thing is not to rush things, and give both sides a lot of individual attention from a distance. In no time, the puppy is part of your cat’s chowder.

cat dandruff If you have no other household pets, integrating a new kitten into your home is a fairly simple matter. You'll automatically make her one of the family, about dogs & cats

Have Cats?

Are you a cat person? We’ve got three dogs, but no cats. It’s not because we don’t like cats, it’s just that my wife and I both are allergic to cat dander. Our son, however, has two cats; one that stays indoors and the other is both an indoor and outdoor cat. What both of these felines have in common is that they are very destructive. Since both he and his wifeare gone most of the day, they have gotten used to coming home to what I have named “shredded house”. They just positively dread it whenit’s going to rain because they know that the cats will get bored and look for things to tear up.

Mouse Chaser Fun

So when I saw this Mouse Chaser on an As Seen On TV commercial, I knew I had to order it for them. It’s a good deal, too...a “Buy One Get One Free” offer. So, for about $34 total (including shipping), two of these electronic cat entertainment gizmos showed up on my door step plus two free red beam laser cat toys.

The Mouse Chaser is a neat device that will not only keep your cat entertained for hours, but you will also enjoy watching kitty try to catch the “mouse”. This battery powered toy is activated by your cat’s movement. When it senses movement, a small “mouse” begins to run around its path inside an enclosed plastic bowl with strategic openings in the top and side. Your kitty sees the mouse running round and round, and tries to nab it...over and over again! When the cat stops moving the mouse stops running, so your battery life is extended.

Cats Love the Mouse Chaser

Cats don’t miss much of what’s going on around them. When we first powered the Mouse Chaser up and put it on the floor, the cat acted like it was ignoring it. But, it couldn’t ignore the red LED beam for long and soon the mouse was running its laps in the Chaser. The cat leaped at the Mouse Chaser, and tried every which way to grab the mouse through the openings to no avail. He would try to capture the mouse for awhile, then walk away and stare at the Mouse Chaser. Then, he’d sneak back up on it, the mouse wouldactivate, and the cycle would begin all over again. Very entertaining for both him and us!

If you’ve got cats, this is a neat toy that may keep them busy and happy while you’re not at home. While my son’s cats still sometimes scratch where they’re not supposed to, the Mouse Chaser has definitely helped to keep them out of mischief while he’s gone. It’s as relatively inexpensive item that may prevent the destruction of your home’s furnishings by your favorite kitty!

These days, cats are among the most general pet you can own. There are several breeds available, with the most popular being Persian and Siamese. Cats are a domesticated animal, with origins dating back some 8,000 years and beyond. Like any other pet that you may own, including dogs, cats cost money to take care of properly.

You’ll obviously need food, and you’ll also need to plan ahead for vet costs. Your cat will need a litter box, food dish, and water dish. You should also invest in some toys as well, such as a scratching post, cat toys, a pet carrier, and a bed. Feeding your pet will depend a great deal on his age. Older cats require two small meals or one large meal for the day. Canned food can be fed to cats, although any food that has been left out longer than 30 minutes need to be disposed of. Cats loved canned food, although it doesn’t have any benefits to their dental health like dry food does.

As an alternative plan, you can always leave a supply of dry food out for your pet. When you give your cat dry food, you should always make sure that he has enough water. Dry food costs less than canned food, and it can also help to prevent the buildup of tartar on your cat’s teeth. When you buy dry food, you should always look in terms of health and benefits, and stay away from generic food. Even though generic food may be cheaper, it may not offer the nutrients your pet needs. Or you can make a home-made healthy cat food

If you own a kitten, you should only give you kitten food designed for him. You’ll also need to clean and refill his water dish every day. Even though kittens and adult cats like cow’s milk, you should avoid giving it to them as it can cause diarrhea. Feeding your kitten human food is good on occasion, although you may have to mix it in with his cat food.

By themselves, cats stay fairly clean. Brushing will reduce the risk of hairballs and keep your cat’s coat nice and clean. If you are keeping your cat indoors, you’ll need to have a litter box in an area that is easy for your cat to access. Cats don’t like to use dirty litter boxes, they prefer for it to be nice and clean.

Although cats do require some work, they are great pets that will provide you with years and years of companionship. As long as you take care of your cat and take him to the vet for his checkups, he should remain healthy. Even though cats can get sick from time to time – knowing how to care for him will make a world of difference.

In contrast to humans, cats have built in shock absorbers to prevent their limbs from obtaining damage throughout big falls or jumps. Whereas most humans end up with arthritis as a result of old age, cats are surprisingly versatile and resilient to arthritis. Nevertheless, there are cases when this resilience is diminished and arthritis can happen. Most from the time, cat arthritis is because of accidents, for example car accidents or another main impact injury, nevertheless in some uncommon instances a cat’s connective tissue and/or bones can start to degrade, which leads to arthritis more than time.

Cancer does not just affect human beings, cats can also be prone to the ill affects of this deadly disease. I have a cat who is called Pip and in this article I will be writing about my families experience in protecting her from cancer, which the vet has informed us, has ultimately saved and prolonged her life.

Pip is a gorgeous cat who is a proud and confident member of our family. She is ninety-five percent white in colour, the other five percent is black. My experience with animals has made me very much aware of the increased possibility that white furred cats have of contracting cancer in comparison to other coloured furred cats.

I regularly check Pip over when I am stroking her etc. On one particular morning I noticed something rather out of the ordinary - she had what I can only describe as small black spots in and around her ears. I have to say that these were very much new spots as they had not been there the week before. I was slightly worried as I love Pip to bits - there was no way that I was going to take any sort of chance or delay any treatment that may be required - therefore we took her to the vets immediately. In my heart of hearts I believed that Pip would be fine but I just did not want to take any unnecessary risks. I had pet insurance in place in any case.

The vet examined Pip and looked quite worried. He told us that Pip had a form of pre-cancer and that the only way that she would survive, in his opinion, would be to have her ears amputated.

This was very sad but we realised that in a way we had no choice. This all happened four years ago and Pip is still going strong today, unaware of how close she was to losing her life. The vet has stated that if I had not checked her out and brought her in to be examined that the cancer would have spread and that Pip would have only lived for around three to six months.

Cats are fascinating creatures. If you have read the famous Just-So story by Rudyard Kipling, entitled 'The Cat That Walked By Himself', you will appreciate the diversity of the feline character. One minute they are full of love - rubbing all over you and purring, and the next minute they are untouchable, cool and aloof. Here's what funny cats think about humans!

When you get sick, your human will take you to a vet. This is a nasty person who works in a place that stinks. When you see the cat carrier being taken out of the cupboard, run and hide in the garden. Your owner will catch you but you must put up a good fight when she or he puts you in the carrier.

On the way to the vet, meow as loudly as possible. If you can, put your claws through the carrier's bars and scratch the human. When you arrive at the vet, push yourself as far back in the carrier as you can. Also splay your legs out. They will really battle to get you out.

When you return home, your owners will try and give you medicine. Bolt when you hear the pill bottle rattling. When they try to force your mouth open, wriggle out of their clutches. Somehow they will get the pill in, but you've still got a trick up your sleeve - throw up on chair. For an even better result, a Persian rug would be preferable.

Waking up a sleeping human is a great game. Leap onto the bed and trample all over him or her while purring and meowing sweetly. If this doesn't work, try something more drastic. Clatter the blinds, knock over some pictures or sharpen your claws robustly on the bed. You will eventually win!

When your owners have guests, you must quickly detect the person who hates cats. Hop onto this lap as fast as you can. The guest who proclaims a love for cats should be completely shunned. Be aloof and unfriendly as they make stupid sounds to call you over. If this person continues, you might have to sharply nip his or her ankle. Be sure to follow every guest into the toilet and stare intently at them.

Finally, there will be times when you want to express your love for your owners. You can do this by presenting them with a disemboweled rodent, garden snake or a rodent. The expressions on their faces will show their appreciation. See just how funny cats can be!

Lovers of all things cat and humorous, should spend a while enjoying a funny cat video.

If your sense of humor is more generalized, definitely drop by funny videoes of all sorts

Probably the most widespread cat health care issues our feline friends experience in this country is cat flu. The reason that it is so problematic is that it may be worsened by secondary infections and can become life-threatening. Ironically, despite the possibility of serious harm, it really is easily avoidable. Cat health care is jeopardised by cat flu virus because there are two types of the illness: viral feline flu virus in addition to bacterial cat flu. Cats can get either or both, with bacterial feline flu being a frequent secondary infection in kittens and cats with viral flu. Like is the situation with humans catching common colds and flu, it's most commonly and most quickly transmitted among kittens and cats who're kept in big groupings, for example those in catteries or cat rescue organisations. This is one of the principal reasons why cattery owners insist your furry friend is vaccinated before its visit.

A few of the most common symptoms of feline flu to look out for are sneezing and coughing, a clear discharge from the nose and eyes, abnormal salivation, depression, lack of appetite, lameness and ulcers on the tongue, nasal area or top of the mouth. If the cat develops a secondary bacterial infection then the discharge from the nose and eyes can become thicker and yellow in colouring. These types of symptoms are all signs of a cat health care problem and the cat must be taken to visit the veterinarian. In these situations, intensive attention by a veterinarian will be the afflicted cat’s best chance for survival. The cat health care vet will be able to treat bacterial feline flu with antibiotics but there's sadly no specific treatment for viral feline flu.

Due to the fact that there's no treatment for life threatening cat flu, cat health care professionals are always keen to emphasise that vaccination as a kitten with ongoing booster jabs is very important. Vaccination is the only established means of protecting against feline flu.

When you are trying to get your cat to stop scratching up your precious furniture, you must learn one thing - that you can never get your cat to do something that she wants to do, so, do not try to get your cat to stop scratching by using punishment or force, as she will not associate the punishment with scratching, and will associate it with being picked up, causing further bad behaviour. Continued punishment will break the bond of trust between you and your cat and will make for difficult times as cats hold grudges and have very long memories.

How then, to stop scratching? Well, you must first provide your cat with an appropriate scratching post. By an appropriate post, we mean one that suits your cat and not one that suits you, like a space saving, double layered bed that doubles as a scratching post. NEVER use these, as they just provide something that your cat will sleep in, so if you have one you need to get a scratching post as well. Cats like a post they can really shred, so avoid ones made of any sort of rope as these do not tear easily enough for your cat. Use a heavy, sturdy, strong post made of sisal material, not the rope. The post should be about 28 inches tall for a fully grown cat, as cats like to extend their bodies to the full extent.

When placing the post, make sure it is in a good, position near the centre of the room, and not hidden in a dark corner. Cats scratch to mark territory and this makes your cat feel that the post is her own, and not yours. It is also a good thing to put the post near either the food dish (not too close) or the cat’s basket, as these are spots that are good for territory.

To get your cat to prefer the post, make all experiences with the post pleasurable. Use food while she is scratching, rub catnip into the post, give her treats, dangle a toy mouse or a ball on top of the post, play with her, pet her, and love her near the post. She will know that this is a good place to be and feel how good it feels to scratch on the post. If your cat still scratches the old spots where she used to scratch then use lemon spray on the patches where you don’t want her to scratch. Cats hate lemon, especially the peel and juice. You can also hang aluminium foil on the places you don’t want her to scratch.
